Description from the seller
A0000005496
Body and Cap (Gold Plating): The ribbed finish (guilloché-type) maintains a good overall shine and shows no deep dents, deformations, or cracks. However, on the smooth surfaces (such as the clip’s spine and the smooth edges of the cap) there are multiple fine surface micro-scratches characteristic of frequent use.
Trinity Rings and Upper Crown: The three interlinked rings (the model’s distinctive mark) are intact in form but show wear from friction. The most notable in this area is the heavy dirt buildup and dark patina in the crevices, especially visible at the base of the rings and at the junction with the flat top cap.
Engravings and Contrasts: The inscriptions located on the flat crown of the cap are a strong point. The punch marks, Cartier’s famous “C” logo, “MADE IN FRANCE”, “PLAQUE OR G” and “PAT” are deeply engraved, sharp, and perfectly legible, although dirt has also become embedded within the grooves of the letters themselves.
Grip Section and Tip: The serrated mouth through which the replacement tip emerges is in good aesthetic condition, with no evident gaps in the gold plating, but sharing the same surface wear as the rest of the body.
In summary: It is a structurally sound and robust piece that reflects the normal (and honest) wear of a vintage item used regularly. It does not require mechanical repairs at first glance, but aesthetically it clearly cries out for a thorough and careful cleaning to remove dirt embedded in the grooves and around the rings.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Happy bidding!
