Maud, summer 1935, a mixed technique artwork from the Netherlands, dated 1935 in the 1930s, sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
This watercolor with an underlying drawing is by the Dutch artist Ko Cossaar.
Originally, Cossaar worked as a decorator painter, but he later developed into a versatile painter with a broad body of work.
During his eight-year stay in England he painted in an impressionistic style city and harbor views in London, as well as landscapes along the coast of Yorkshire. Thanks to a contract with the London art dealer Goupil, which had access to everything Cossaar painted, much of his early work remains in museums and private collections in England. His work can also be found in collections including the Drents Museum in Assen, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
In the Netherlands, Cossaar became especially known for his church interiors and exteriors. He painted, among others, the great churches of France, Italy and England. This work provides a more personal and intimate example within his oeuvre: a portrait of his daughter.
Dimensions: 26 x 36 cm
Dimensions with frame: 51 x 41 cm
