Description from the seller

Single print. 40X50, 1/1
This black and white photograph explores the memory of movement through a technique of overprinting that layers several moments of the same scene. The silhouettes of the surfers blend into the texture of the ocean, creating a composition where time seems to dilate and where each wave tells several stories at once.

At the border between photography and painting, the image abandons documentary representation to become a graphic and poetic work. Subtle contrasts, the depth of grays, and the repetition of shapes give rise to an almost abstract composition, where the eye freely moves between the different strata of the image.

This work evokes the power of the sea, the rhythm of the waves, and the intimate relationship between man and ocean. It invites prolonged contemplation, revealing new details with every look.

Technique: Art photography print in black and white made from a photographic overprint.

Passionate about photography from a young age, Ben DAUCHEZ began in the neighborhood studios of La Rochelle. There he acquired the full set of basics of classic photographic technique, from shooting to post-processing and through the laboratory. At 22, freshly graduated, he moved to Paris to refine his training by becoming a set photographer assistant for Daguerre Studios, le Petit Oiseau va sortir, and Studio Zéro. He had the chance to collaborate with and assist among the most talented photographers: Bettina RHEIMS, Patrick DEMARCHELIER, Terry RICHARDSON, Ellen VON UNWERTH, Marcus MAM... From certain decisive encounters, beautiful projects and long collaborations emerged, notably with André RAU, Bettina RHEIMS (the sulfureous exhibition INRI and its eponymous book at Editions Albin Michel) and Peter BEARD (Pirelli calendar 2009 in Botswana).
His photos are published, among others, in Condé Nast Editions (French and international), Première, WallPaper, ID, Madame Figaro, Lifestyles, Dandy Magazine... His world also attracts brands with very different stylistic codes for which he has signed institutional and/or advertising campaigns such as Dior (beauty), L'Oréal, Peugeot, Philip Morris, and even Burger King (advertising awarded at Dubai Lynx).

Ben DAUCHEZ has also produced numerous portraits of celebrities (IGGY POP, Woody HALLEN, Grace JONES, Jean DUJARDIN, Gilles LELLOUCHE, Olivier MARCHAL, Carole BOUQUET, Charlotte GAINSBOURG, ...) of beauty, of men of the world (Olivier DASSAULT, Jacques SEGUELA...) and of travelers...
This photographic path has since allowed him to freely capture the human beauty, aesthetics, and spiritual essence of each personality.
