Maud en Liesje, a 1926 mixed technique work from the Netherlands, is sold with its frame.
Description from the seller
This watercolor with an underlying drawing is by the Dutch artist Ko Cossaar. Originally Cossaar worked as a decorative painter, but he later developed into a versatile painter with a broad oeuvre.
During his eight-year stay in England, he painted in an impressionistic style city and harbor views in London, as well as landscapes along the Yorkshire coast. Thanks to a contract with the London art dealing house Goupil, which had access to everything Cossaar painted, much of his early work remains in museums and private collections in England. His work is also found in collections of, among others, the Drents Museum in Assen, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
In the Netherlands Cossaar became especially known for his church interiors and exteriors. He painted, among other things, the great churches of France, Italy and England. This work forms a more personal and intimate example within his oeuvre: a portrait of his wife.
Dimensions: 44 x 35 cm
Dimensions with frame: 55 x 46 cm
Lower left signed and dated
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition we have our own in-house picture-framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year.
