Description from the seller
Title: Palace Food
School: Dutch School (XVII)
Style: Dutch Baroque genre painting
Technique: Oil on re-t stretched canvas
A scene in the costumbrista tradition with notable influence of Dutch Baroque in which a group of aristocratic figures and servants share a meal inside palace architecture. The composition unfolds in a space of great perspectival depth, marked by monumental arches and columns that lend solemnity and theatrical balance to the scene. The characters are arranged around a table covered with a white cloth, captured in natural and conversational attitudes, while a female figure in the foreground adds compositional dynamism through the rich chromaticity of her garments.
The work stands out for its refined lighting treatment and the meticulous rendering of fabrics, furniture and decorative elements, typical resources of 17th-century Dutch painting. The large ornamental urn on the right serves as an architectural counterpoint and reinforces the noble character of the scene. The earthy palette and the light contrasts create an intimate and elegant atmosphere, typical of interior Baroque scenes.
It presents restorations and re-lining.
The carved and gilded wooden frame features vegetal decoration and pearl mouldings inspired by classical motifs, harmoniously accompanying the historical character of the piece.
Measurements: 51 x 51 cm
Measurements with frame: 67.5 x 61 cm
Notes:
The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will need photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will under no circumstances cover this surcharge.
Due to issues at the Swiss border, we are obliged to inform that shipments exceeding 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
