Description from the seller

OPERA

The series “Equilibrio” arises from research on the relationship between sign, color, and space within the canvas. Each work is an attempt to find a balance between fullness and emptiness, density and breath, weight and lightness. My mark engages in dialogue with broader, quieter color fields: from this encounter arises an equilibrium that is not perfect or geometric, but fragile, alive, always in tension.

“Equilibrio.03” is a work in which the part made of signs, the circular and broken one, is an internal map: thoughts, memories, connections, things that fit together and overlap. It is not a closed, perfect form, because it is divided, cut, traversed: as if it were an identity composed of several parts.
The yellow area in the upper left is a brighter part, a warm memory or a zone of energy. It is lighter than black, yet it still has presence: it seems something that surfaces.
The blue rectangle, on the other hand, gives a more concrete sensation, like a room, a pool, a block of sky or water. It is the quietest part, but also the one that interrupts everything. It does not enter the weave: it rests on it, covers it, stops it.
The work lives in the relationship between what moves inside and what comes from outside: on one side, the interior world full of signs; on the other, a calmer, clearer external presence that changes the balance of the painting.

(The signature is hidden inside the work ;)

ARTIST

I am Pietro Fight, an Italian visual artist, born 1992, based in Milan. My research lies within the field of gestural abstraction, a strand of abstract art developed especially after World War II, in which the sign becomes an autonomous visual language: it does not describe recognizable figures, but builds rhythm, density, tension, and breath within the work. My practice stems from a writing of gesture made of circular modules and nets of signs, through which I seek balance between fullness and emptiness, accumulation and suspension, intensity of the mark and zones of visual silence. I work on canvas with different techniques, layering glazes and markings to bring chromatic fields and black sign into dialogue; I am interested in both a tight black-and-white, as well as the use of strong color contrasts.

This language of mine arose in 2020, during the Covid period, when I transformed the boredom of daily routine into a process made of repetition, rhythm, and small variations. From that period also derives the signature “Corona,” a direct trace of that time (coronavirus). The mark I trace is instantaneous and records the mechanics of my mind: even when it appears serial, it varies according to mood and the interior “noise” of the moment. For this reason, even within a repeated grammar, every trace is different and each work remains unreproducible.
