Description from the seller
Anubis is the Greek name of the god of death, mummification, embalming, the afterlife, cemeteries, tombs and the Underworld, in ancient Egyptian religion, usually depicted as a dog or a man with a canine head. Anubis has taken on different roles in various contexts. Portrayed as a tomb protector already in the First Dynasty (about 3100–2890 BCE), Anubis was also an embalmer. One of his leading roles was as a god who guided souls into the afterlife. He assisted in the weighing of the heart, where it was determined whether a soul would be allowed to enter the realm of the dead. Ra is the ancient Egyptian deity of the sun. By the 5th Dynasty in the 25th and 24th centuries BCE, he had become one of the most important deities in ancient Egyptian religion, identified mainly with the noonday sun. It was believed that Ra ruled in all parts of the created world: the sky, the Earth, and the underworld; he was the god of the sun, order, kings, and the sky. Ra was depicted as a hawk and shared characteristics with the sky god. It was believed that all forms of life were created by Ra. In some accounts, humans were created from Ra’s tears and sweat; in the myth of the Celestial Cow, it is told how humanity plotted against Ra and how he sent his Eye as the goddess Sekhmet to punish them.
