Aldo Borgonzoni, Crocifissione, a mixed-media original edition from 1970–1980, manually painted and hand-signed, depicting a religious theme, 65 by 50 cm, about 400 g, sold by owner or dealer, shipped without glass or a frame.
Description from the seller
Print manually painted
This is an item from a limited series of prints. It has been manually painted and modified by the artist, hence it is a unique piece.
Sold without glass and frame.
The artist: Aldo Borgonzoni, despite his secular background, was deeply struck by the innovations introduced by the Second Vatican Council, which began in 1961. It was precisely in the wake of this significant event that the artist began his Cardinals series, which would remain a constant theme throughout the next ten years of his career.
The artist, a member of the Accademia Clementina and the Cardinal Lercaro Foundation, received the Nettuno d’Oro award from the City of Bologna in 1983 and, in 1994, was bestowed the title of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by the President of Italy. He took part in several Venice Biennales and Rome Quadriennales, as well as in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His works are held in public museums and in private collections both in Italy and internationally.
