Two handsome, semi-erotic color lithographs by the artistic duizenpoot Marcel Vertes (1895 - 1961).
He was of Hungarian Jewish origin.
He became famous in the 1920s. He designed sets and costumes for film and theater, painted, illustrated books and was a gifted graphic artist.
For his costume and set designs for the film Moulin Rouge in 1952, he received 2 Oscars.
He was also responsible for the murals at the Carlyle Cafe in the Carlyle Hotel in New York and also for the Peacock Alley of the Waldorf Astoria.
Of this edition, titled Le Cirque (the Circus), only 250 copies were made.
150 for the American market and 100 for French collectors.
All lithographs are pencil-numbered and signed.
