Valerio Adami (born 1935) – Marat – Original signed silkscreen print – HC proof – 1991
Description of the work:
Rare original screen print by Valerio Adami, produced in 1991 and entitled “Marat.” This composition draws on the historical figure of Jean-Paul Marat, depicted in his bath, an emblematic theme in art history revisited by the artist in his instantly recognizable graphic language.
The work is distinguished by the bold black lines, blocks of vivid color, and the geometric construction characteristic of Valerio Adami’s style. It stands as a fine example of his synthesis between narration, history and modernity.

About the artist:
Valerio Adami (born 1935 in Bologna) is one of the leading figures of postwar Italian contemporary art. Trained at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, he developed from the 1960s a unique pictorial language, based on strongly marked black contours, bold color fields and a construction reminiscent of comics, while addressing philosophical, literary, historical and political themes.
His work is deeply influenced by literature, music and European thought. Adami collaborates with numerous writers and intellectuals and also undertakes important public commissions, including mosaics, stained glass, and monumental paintings.
His works are in the permanent collections of prestigious international institutions, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Tate in London, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid and many other museums devoted to modern and contemporary art.
