A Japanese single-strand red agate rosary for women, with 8 mm translucent beads, a large Buddha-head main bead, purple tassels, and a temple-consecrated finish, dating to the 20th century and supplied with an original storage box from a private collection, attributed as in the style of Japanese Buddhist rosaries.
Description from the seller
This is a Japanese Buddhist rosary (prayer beads), a single-strand bead set specifically for women, made of natural red agate. It comes with an original "rosary bead" storage box and is a common Buddhist/prayer/recitation tool used in Japanese Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. It can also be collected as a Japanese-style collectible.
Main body: A single strand of red agate beads of the same size;
Mother bead: A large main bead (Buddha head) at the bottom, paired with an agate three-way gourd-shaped stupa;
Tassel pendant: Two bundles of deep purple hand-woven tassels, the top of which is a pineapple knot net with gold thread embellishments. The purple thread color scheme is elegant and dignified, a classic color combination for Japanese women's rosaries.
The beads are entirely translucent red agate round beads with a uniform, wine-red color. The jade is delicate and free of impurities and cracks, polished to a bright shine, and smooth to the touch. The beads are uniform in size, and the overall size is a standard women's rosary bead size, easily held in one hand. This string of beads has been consecrated at a temple. Because I have many rosaries, I am selling it to someone who is destined to receive it. The overall condition is good, almost flawless. The bead is 8mm in diameter.
