The works of Cisternini in the painting cycle “Donna” are a scenographic and symbolic representation of the woman, seen both through the eyes of an artist and through the eyes of a man.
With these paintings we aim to depict the woman beyond society’s stereotypes: her essence, her humanity, her fragility and, at the same time, her strength.
The color choice, in its monochromatic, lightly sepia-toned, seeks to convey a sense of mystery, of lived experience and/or memory.
The veil that envelops the woman has multiple meanings: the part that gently wraps around her body is pink, almost merging with her own skin; while the remaining part of it seeks to represent, through its tension, the influence of the social stereotype of a strong, emancipated, beautiful and slim woman.
The title of the work intends to aid in understanding it by using adjectives or names linked to its aim of humanizing her and capturing her essence.
