Arthur Blackburn (1853-1925) was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire and studied at the Leeds School of Art. He collaborated with the Victorian artist John Atkinson Grimshaw. He exhibited his works at the Royal Academy and in other galleries across the United Kingdom.
The work measures 70 cm in height and 50 cm in width with a period frame. The canvas-only piece measures 41 cm in width and 61 cm in height.
