Louis Nagelkerke (Eindhoven, February 3, 1949) has been a professional artist since 1980. Louis is a versatile artist and never without inspiration or new ideas. Movement, beauty and mystique are characteristic of his artworks. He is especially inspired by life in the Indonesian archipelago and is fascinated by the mystery of its inhabitants, both people and animals. His inspiration often concerns the Eastern person. Musicians, dancers and female dancers, in particular the people of the beautiful island Bali. People from the theater are also often his models. The subjects of his work are as varied and rich as life itself. But his love for the Eastern culture and religion, music and dance always recurs. Louis Nagelkerke is especially known for his very realistic depictions of people, "bringing out the beauty in people and animals".
