- Legacy of the Kuno Schiefer family
Kuno Schiefer (Stuttgart, 1948 – São José dos Campos, 1992) was a German painter and graphic artist who worked most of his life in Brazil. His oeuvre includes paintings, drawings and prints, with his Brazilian period especially characterized by influences from tropical nature and the landscape. He was noticed early on and his work was exhibited in major galleries in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. From 1985 onward he divided his time between Brazil and Berlin, which had a significant influence on his artistic development.
In his work Schiefer developed from figurative depictions of everyday objects to expressive, often abstract interpretations of vegetation and nature. His paintings are characterized by intense colors, a strong sense of light and an almost musical rhythm in composition and brushwork. Through the exchange between Europe and Brazil, a personal visual language emerged, in which he gradually moved away from figuration toward more introspective and free painting.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we work with restorers from the industry association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, please let us know.
