Description from the seller

Oil by Jean Claude Quilici. "Les Roches Blanches aux Baux".

Jean-Claude Quilici was born in Marseille in 1941. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, where he discovered the masters of Provençal painting.
His painting here aligns with the aesthetic lineage of Provençal artists. However, Jean-Claude Quilici does not depict Provence alone, but all the landscapes he admires and that inspire him, as he travels: United States, Spain, Morocco…
Jean-Claude Quilici first exhibited in 1958. This was followed by a nationwide reputation of considerable scope. The artist receives numerous prizes, such as the Jury’s "Special Mention" at the Grand Prize for Painting at the Avignon Festival. The recognition he enjoys then crosses borders: he exhibits many times in the United States and then in Japan. During his career, he also undertook public commissions, for the University of Corte and the Marseille metro in particular. In 1997, the artist created the sets for Gounod’s opera "Mireille" for a coproduction between the Marseille Opera and the Bordeaux Opera.
