The heliogravure was printed and published in 1923 by his wife. A. Zernike-Mankes and Roland Holst.

The engraving is in excellent condition and is supplied with a matching off-white colour passe-partout in the depicted frame.
A great Dutch Master Artist who sadly died at only 31 years of age. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly small formats, about 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of graphics, mainly etchings and woodcuts.
Jan Mankes is remembered in art history as the “most tranquil Dutch painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making surrounding his artistry.
