In this lot we present the new sculpture ‘San Leonardo da Vinci,’ our contemporary lay saint, symbol of creativity, curiosity and genius.

This work was born for visionaries who share a sharp curiosity about all human knowledge and a continuous study of anthropology and society, as well as technical and material aspects: traits that accompanied Leonardo da Vinci throughout his life, a lifestyle that stimulates creativity.

The sculpture up for auction is a unique piece, numbered in 8 editions and 4 artist’s proofs, coated with silver-colored leaf; the choice of patina recalls the busts of saints and makes the work suitable for contemporary interiors.

Made with sustainable materials: bio-malta and rice husk (a reused material derived from grain processing); the work reduces environmental impact by using materials sourced from industrial waste. This is a defining characteristic of the artist duo Francioni Mastromarino: a sustainable art approach developed over years, a modus operandi and not a marketing gimmick.

The authors have also created the world’s largest elderly portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, which, after taking part in numerous international exhibitions, is today a monument in the city of Pavia and a symbol of contemporary gigantism in Italian sculpture, standing 5 meters tall. This “San Leonardo” is one of the models derived from that monumental work.

The works of Francioni Mastromarino are in private collections in numerous countries, including the United States, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg, Greece, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, the United Arab Emirates and Bulgaria.

Each sculpture is packaged with the utmost care and shipped by express courier, with secure and eco-friendly triple-wall cardboard packaging, suitable for both national and international shipments. For shipments outside the European Union, a certificate of free export stamped by the Export Office of the Superintendence of Fine Arts of Florence is provided.
