Kinmo zui 1798 edition - Tekisai & Shusui – Vol 8 1/2-10
Parts of the revised and expanded edition of the first Japanese illustrated encyclopedia.
Title (handwritten): 'Kinmo banbutsu zui'.
Parts 8 1/2, 9, and 10 of the 10-part version of "Zoho kashiragaki kinmo zui taisei" (A Complete Collection of Pictures for the Enlightenment of Young People, Expanded with Notes).
Volume 9 (Kan 20): It is devoted entirely to ornamental plants and flowers, a category called Kaso.
Volume 10 (Kan 21): Contains the final thematic category and the afterword (batsu) of the work.
Composer: Nakamura Tekisai (1629-1702).
Illustrator: Shimokobe Shusui (?-1798).
Year of publication: 1789 (Kansei 1).
Dimensions: 22.4 x 15.6 cm (hanshibon).
64 folded pages.
Condition: The cover shows signs of wear. The endpapers are partially detached from the cover. Some pages have a faded stain in the bottom corner. Compared to the Waseda edition, the first page and the folded last page from section 10 are missing. Otherwise, the publication is in good condition.
