Angelo Scardino - Ordigno culturale

An explosive device that does not explode, matter, but thought. A bomb transformed into a cultural relic.

The work engages in dialogue between two imaginary opposites: the shape of a war device and the sacredness of monumental architecture. The lower part recalls a bomb, symbol of destruction and threat, while the golden summit evokes a Baroque dome, almost an architectural relic or sacred fragment.

The inscription “Ordigno culturale MK-01 / Calibro pensiero critico Testata di idee” transforms the object from a weapon into a poetic manifesto: not a bomb intended to destroy, but a symbolic charge capable of generating reflection, culture and awareness.
A unique collectible work, not reproduced in series. Every detail, finish and patina has been handcrafted, making the piece irreproducible. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist Angelo Scardino.

The surface shows strong contrasts: the matte, rough green of the lower part recalls military and industrial language, while the gilded dome, glossy and precious, introduces a spiritual, iconic, museum-like element. This contrast makes the work particularly dramatic and suitable for contemporary art collections, design environments, professional studios or exhibition spaces.

The work belongs to Angelo Scardino’s exploration of the relationship between sacrality, memory, power, ruin and the transformation of matter. Biography of the artist

Angelo Scardino was born in 1986 in Grottaglie (TA), land of ceramics, where he began his artistic career. At the Liceo Artistico “Lisippo” in Manduria he trained in the plastic and sculptural fields, then in 2007–2008 obtained the bachelor’s degree with top marks (110/110 with honors) at the Academy of Fine Arts of Lecce. In 2009–2010 he earned a master’s degree, again with 110 and honors, with a theoretical thesis titled “The Sculpture of the Void,” dedicated to the study and realization of sculptural models based on negative space.

In 2012 he moved to Mantua, and currently lives and works as a teacher in Verona. His works are part of public and private collections in Italy and abroad.
