Description from the seller
no-nonsense estate pipe in the classic English billiard tradition. The bowl is finished in a deeply textured sandblast — here stamped "RUSTIC" on the shank, indicating a finish grade rather than a brand name, a common practice among British and European pipe makers of the mid-20th century. Sandblasting removes softer wood under high pressure, revealing the natural grain beneath and creating a tactile, textured relief — a process associated with cooler, more durable smokes and pipes that are especially resistant to bumps and scratches. (Smokingpipes)
The bowl shows excellent deep blast texture throughout with rich dark staining, and sits on a smooth transition shank. The stem is black vulcanite in very good condition with a wide, comfortable saddle-style bit. The overall form is a classic straight billiard — timeless and practical.
The maker is unidentified on the visible stampings, suggesting this is either a trade pipe, a retailer house-brand, or a mid-tier production piece from a larger manufacturer. The quality of the sandblast and the stem suggest British or possibly French origin.
Materials: Briar bowl with sandblast finish, black vulcanite saddle stem
Condition: Good used vintage condition. Bowl shows honest age patina. Stem in good order with only minor surface wear. A clean, useable estate pipe.
Dimensions: 16.5 × 4 cm | Weight: 63g
Solid, unpretentious and ready to smoke — exactly what a good estate billiard should be.
