Description from the seller
Antoniucci Volti (1915 - 1989) French artist of Italian origin.
Hand-signed lithograph with pencil at the bottom right.
Edition 1 / 150
Title of the work: Nude lying down.
Arches Velin paper
Provenance: Salon Comparaisons 2026 at the Grand Palais, Paris
Excellent condition
Lithograph used for the poster of the 27th Salon of drawing and watercolor painting from May 31 to January 29, 1980 at the Grand Palais in Paris.
During his academic training, Antoniucci Volti develops a definite talent for drawing, which accompanies him throughout his career. Fascinated by the architecture of the female body, the artist makes numerous sketches every day with his models. Volti’s drawings explore and depict the female body in different forms. Sitting, lying down, curled up, the nudes represented bear witness to the rigorous study of movement carried out by the artist. In pencil, charcoal, or sanguine, Volti’s drawings follow the stylistic evolution of the artist, between tradition and modernity, between realism and geometric simplification of forms.
Since the post-war period, Antoniucci Volti has received numerous public commissions that attest to his artistic and institutional recognition. During his career, the formal language and the dimensions of the works will evolve. That said, the sole theme of the female body remains, and with it, a rigorous and regular practice of drawing. On the art market, Antoniucci Volti’s drawings fetch a very handsome price. The nudes, realistic, with blazing sanguine and shading, are particularly appreciated by collectors. Of high quality, the artist’s drawings are recognized for their true value on the art market.
