Description from the seller

For sale: an original Sestrel sextant in its original wooden storage case. This classic nautical navigation instrument is in a beautiful, authentic condition and is fully functional, although I do not recommend using it.

The sextant has been carefully stripped of its original lacquer/paint in the past, giving its brass a natural, characterful appearance. This gives the instrument a unique and timeless look that will appeal to both collectors and enthusiasts of maritime decor.

The optics are complete; the mirrors and filters are present, and the instrument works as intended. As such, it is not only a stunning decorative object but also an authentic piece of maritime history.

This sextant is especially suitable for:

• Maritime collectors
• Museums and exhibitions
• Restaurants, cafes and bars with a nautical interior
• Offices or reception areas
• Yachts, sailing clubs and nautical associations
• Film and theatre set design
• Exclusive home decor

The original wooden box is also included and completes the set.

An original Sestrel sextant is increasingly hard to find, especially in complete and working condition. A beautiful object with history, craftsmanship and presence.

Condition

Original Sestrel sextant
Fully functional / no longer suitable for navigation
Complete with original wooden case
Authentic brass patina
Carefully stripped of the old lacquer/paint
Normal signs of use appropriate for its age

A fine and rare nautical instrument that is a real standout both as a collector’s item and a decorative piece.
