BMW R 65 LS, 650 cc, first registered in 1983, located in northern Italy with Italian registration papers, 34,448 km, frame number 6351241, CoC not present, condition to restart.
Description from the seller
The 1983 BMW R 65 is a mid-displacement touring motorcycle produced by the German motorcycle manufacturer BMW, belonging to the famous R series with a twin-cylinder boxer engine. Designed to offer reliability, comfort and ease of riding, it represents one of the most appreciated models in BMW’s production of the 1980s.
The vehicle is equipped with a 4-stroke air-cooled 649 cm³ twin-boxer engine, with overhead valve distribution actuated by pushrods and rockers. Fuel supply is provided by two carburetors, while the transmission uses a five-speed manual gearbox and a final shaft drive, a BMW-typical solution that guarantees high reliability and low maintenance.
The frame is steel tubular with the engine as a load-bearing member; the suspension consists of a front telescopic fork and a rear swingarm with twin hydraulic shocks. The braking system comprises a front disc brake and a rear drum brake (in the standard 1983 versions), while the wheels are either spoked or alloy, depending on the trim.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the BMW R 65 is characterized by the classic tank with clean lines and decorative grooves, the boxer engine with cylinders protruding laterally, the wide and comfortable seat, the round headlight and the complete analog instrumentation, elements that identify the traditional style of BMW motorcycles of that era.
Thanks to the balance between performance, handling and ride comfort, the BMW R 65 has been a motorcycle particularly appreciated for both everyday use and long-distance touring. Today it represents a model of historical and collectible interest, appreciated for its build quality, mechanical robustness and the high reliability that have always distinguished BMW Motorrad.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
