Description from the seller
The Unconscious
The Unconscious explores the invisible landscape of thoughts, emotions, and memories that lie beneath conscious perception. Built through layers of spontaneous gestures, expressive brushwork, and energetic black marks, the composition allows a face to emerge and dissolve at the same time, oscillating between abstraction and figuration.
Soft pinks, smoky greys, muted ochres, and deep blacks create a dynamic tension between vulnerability and strength. Rather than depicting a specific individual, the painting evokes a universal psychological presence, inviting viewers to project their own experiences, emotions, and inner narratives.
Executed in an intuitive, gestural process, the work reflects the immediacy of action painting while preserving a strong sense of depth and mystery. Each layer records a moment of creation, revealing traces of both construction and erasure, as if the image were continuously transforming before the viewer.
A compelling contemporary work that balances expressive abstraction with the suggestion of portraiture, offering an open and deeply personal viewing experience.
