Portret by Jan M.C. Asselbergs (1937-2015), an oil painting from 1975, Dutch, original edition, hand-signed, a portrait of a blonde woman, 104 x 84 cm including frame.
Description from the seller
This expressive portrait of a blonde woman was painted by the Dutch artist Jan Asselbergs. Asselbergs created paintings, watercolors, drawings and sculptures, with the human figure always at the center. Particularly his powerful chalk drawings of faces and torsos stand out for their loose, spontaneous and expressive character. From 1980 onwards he devoted himself entirely to portrait painting.
Asselbergs believed it was important to depict his subjects in a familiar environment, so they appeared relaxed, self-assured and authentic on the canvas. By presenting his sitters frontally and having them look directly at the viewer, he tried to reveal their personality and inner strength. In addition to many unknown models, he also portrayed numerous well-known Dutch people, including Queen Beatrix, King Willem-Alexander, Ruud Lubbers, Monique van de Ven and Marco Borsato.
Dimensions: 80 x 60 cm
Dimensions with frame: 104 x 84 cm
