Description from the seller

Broer Dobbelsteen was a versatile Brabantian artist who made his name mainly with his colorful and expressive paintings. Although he was originally trained as a designer at the academy in Eindhoven, he changed course in 1964 to devote himself entirely to free art. His work, often revolving around human figures and abstract forms, stands out for its vibrant color use and a very distinctive, recognizable handwriting. Until his death in 2019, he remained a prominent figure in the Geldrop region, where he worked for years on an oeuvre that still frequently appears with collectors and at art auctions.

The oil paintings by Broer Dobbelsteen are known for their powerful, expressive appearance, heavily influenced by the CoBrA movement. He employed a recognizable technique in which he often worked with thick layers of paint (impasto) and a coarse, spontaneous brushwork.

Dimensions of the artwork: 120 x 151 cm
Dimensions of the framed artwork: 124 x 154 cm

Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framers, who are celebrating their 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the trade association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this service, of course we would be glad to hear from you."}
