Description from the seller
complete vintage smoking pipe set by Ropp, the historic French pipe maker from Saint-Claude — the "birthplace of the briar pipe."
Model/Shape: Ropp "Acorn" — hexagonal (6-panel) briar bowl, a classic French Ropp design
Materials: Briar wood bowl, vulcanite (hard rubber) stem, nickel-plated steel folding tool
Maker's mark: Cursive "Eug. Ropp" signature engraved on the shank — the early stamping used by Eugène Ropp, second generation of the family business, before his son Jean took over (J. Ropp stamp)
Age: Early-to-mid 20th century, circa 1920s–1950s, made in Saint-Claude, France, prior to the company's eventual 1991 closure
Box: Original two-tier cardboard presentation box with cream silk-style lining, "ROPP" stamp and signature inside
Pouch: Matching tan canvas drawstring bag printed with "ROPP" logo
Tool: Folding pipe reamer/tamper, stamped ROPP
Weight: 34g (pipe)
Dimensions: 14 x 4 cm (pipe)
Condition: [note any stem oxidation, box fraying, or bowl wear from your own inspection]
A nice early example from a three-generation family pipe-making dynasty, complete with its original accessories — uncommon to find the full set together.
