Description from the seller
This elegant vintage Japanese vase is crafted using the traditional cast bronze (chūdō / 鋳銅) metalworking technique, showcasing the refined artistry of Japanese decorative metalwork. The vase is beautifully adorned with engraved chrysanthemum and plum blossom motifs, symbols of longevity, nobility, perseverance, and good fortune in Japanese culture. Delicate gold powder (gilt) accents enrich the floral decoration, creating a graceful contrast against the rich bronze surface.
The vase bears the artist's signature, confirming its handcrafted origin. An inscription on the base reads "Showa 51 Wedding Commemoration" (1976), indicating that it was created or presented as a commemorative gift celebrating a marriage during the 51st year of the Showa era.
The piece is accompanied by its original custom wooden storage box (tomobako), making it an excellent addition for collectors of Japanese antiques, traditional metal art, or elegant home décor.
