Description from the seller
David Law
Photographic Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to iconic figures who have shaped history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essential, captures in a few powerful contrasts an identity immediately recognizable. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil aesthetic, the works sit in the tradition of street art, between spontaneity and mastery of the gesture. The deep black and rough surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while the imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV and humidity resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing exceptional durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops a writer/author and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photobook and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer guitarist he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
