Major artist of the 20th century, Walter Spitzer (1927-2021) is a Shoah survivor. Deported to Auschwitz and Buchenwald, he survived thanks to his talent as a draftsman. His entire oeuvre remains imbued with a unique mnemonic strength and a deep humanist sensibility, particularly visible in the intensity of the faces of this crowd.
