Description from the seller
EL GERANIO is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work celebrates the silent beauty of the most ordinary flowers, those that for generations have filled Mediterranean courtyards, balconies, and windows with color. The piece transforms a simple flowerpot into a true protagonist, elevating a domestic element to the category of home, memory, and joy.
The geranium blooms inside a ceramic vase decorated in blue and white, inspired by the artisan tradition of southern Europe. The richness of the green leaves, painted with broad and expressive brushstrokes, contrasts with the intensity of the red flowers, which radiate vitality over a luminous and balanced composition. The background introduces a more decorative and contemporary language. Wavy pink lines run across a pale blue surface dotted with small flowers, creating a visual rhythm that envelops the scene and recalls wallpaper, traditional textiles, and imagined gardens. This combination of nature and ornament gives the painting a cheerful and timeless atmosphere.
The table, bathed in warm ochre tones, serves as a stage for a deep blue shadow that anchors the composition and enhances the chromatic contrast. That coexistence of complementary colors—reds, greens, blues, and yellows—gives the work a vibrancy characteristic of Fauvist painting, where color expresses emotions rather than reproducing reality.
“The geranium” is an invitation to pause before the beauty of the simple. It speaks of the plants that accompany daily life, of light-filled houses, and of those small acts of care that turn any corner into a place full of life. A luminous and optimistic work that finds in a common flower a universal motif to celebrate the warmth of home.
