With Un certain regard, JM Robert delivers one of his emblematic portraits, straddling contemporary figuration, street art, and expressionism. On a deep black background, the female face emerges with intensity thanks to generous material work, quick brushstrokes, and a deliberately reduced palette dominated by ivory, black, and golden yellow.
The work is presented in a spectacular old Rococo-style frame directly integrated into the composition. The artist interacts with it through painting and projections, creating a dialogue between classical heritage and contemporary urban aesthetics.
