While creating the series “Daily Emotional Journal - Chronicle of Flavors,” I wanted to invite the viewer to experience art in a way that goes beyond the image itself. I have always been fascinated by the idea that memories build not only colors and shapes, but also scents. It is precisely these scents that can, in an instant, summon emotions, freeze a fleeting moment, or transport us to a specific place.

Garnet is one of three works belonging to the author’s limited collection of fruity scented paintings. Each piece features a different fruit and has been complemented by a corresponding scent composition made exclusively from natural essential oils. Together they form a series that tells a story through color, form, and aroma, encouraging a more conscious experience of everyday life.

I chose Garnet intentionally. For ages it has symbolized abundance, life, energy, renewal, and inner strength. I wanted these values to be present not only in the composition itself, but also in the atmosphere that the painting brings into a room.

In the back of the frame I placed a magnetically attached ceramic scent disk, handmade from casting plaster. Before shipping, it is saturated with the author’s composition with the scent of a juicy pomegranate. The fragrance is released gradually for about 2 weeks, depending on temperature, humidity, and air circulation. After this period, the disk can be easily removed and refilled with your favorite essential oil or your own fragrance blend, allowing the work to gain a completely new character over time.

I do not treat scent as an accessory. It is an integral element of the piece, another layer of reception that completes the artwork and makes the experience of contacting art more personal. I wanted to create a work that remains memorable not only for what can be seen, but also for what can be felt.

I prepare every copy personally, from the finishing of the painting, through the installation of the ceramic disk, to its first saturation with the author’s scent composition. This ensures that every collector receives a complete, ready-to-display work.

Minimalist composition and timeless color palette make the painting perfectly suited to both modern and more classical interiors. It looks great in the kitchen, where the fruity aroma emphasizes a sense of freshness and lightness, and it will also make a striking decorative statement in the living room, as well as in an office, hallway, bedroom, or elegant commercial spaces. It is not merely wall decoration; it subtly influences the atmosphere of a space, bringing a sense of harmony and freshness.

I believe contemporary art can engage more than one sense. It can set a mood, evoke emotions, and leave lasting memories.

Garnet is an attempt to fuse these worlds—image and scent—into one coherent form.

I hope that, for its future owner, it will become not only a work of art but also a daily ritual that pleases both the eyes and the sense of smell.
