Jan Sierhuis (1928 – 2023) was one of the most important Dutch expressionist painters of the twentieth century. He was known for his powerful, colorful and emotional painting style. Although he was closely involved in the founding of the revolutionary CoBrA group in 1948, he was too young at the time to officially become a member. His work, however, always remained strongly influenced by the expressive freedom of this movement.

Jan Sierhuis (1928 – 2023) was een van de belangrijkste Nederlandse expressionistische kunstschilders van de twintigste eeuw. Hij stond bekend om zijn krachtige, kleurrijke en emotionele schilderstijl. Hoewel hij nauw betrokken was bij de oprichting van de revolutionaire CoBrA-groep in 1948, was hij destijds te jong om officieel lid te worden. Zijn werk bleef echter altijd sterk beïnvloed door de expressieve vrijheid van deze beweging.
