Description from the seller
Offering: a fully original Maestro MPS-2 Mini-Phase, a characterful American analog phaser from the 1970s.
The Maestro Mini-Phase is a compact, fully analog phase-shifter pedal with one central Speed control. This allows you to set the modulation speed: from slow, wide and floating phase textures to faster, more pronounced rotating sounds. The result is a warm, organic and musical vintage effect that works excellently on guitar, bass, keyboards and in the studio.
The MPS-2 belongs to the early generation of compact analog phasers from the 1970s and is closely related to the well-known Oberheim P-100 Phasor family. The simple operation is precisely a key part of the appeal: no superfluous features, but a direct and expressive vintage phase effect with a clear seventies character.
This unit bears serial number 3865.
Additionally the included CTS potentiometer is coded 1377438. This code refers to CTS as the manufacturer, with a production date in week 38 of 1974 — around September 1974. This allows the pedal to be convincingly placed in the second half of 1974 or shortly thereafter, provided the potentiometer is original to the pedal.
The combination of early dating, the low serial number and the original Maestro design makes this an attractive specimen for collectors of vintage American effect pedals. At the same time it is a particularly usable pedal for musicians seeking authentic analog phaser tones from the 1970s.
Condition
The pedal is offered in the condition as visible in the photos. Please examine all images carefully; they form an important part of the description and show the housing, labeling, knobs, switch, inputs, serial number and any component codes present.
Operation
The pedal has been tested and works as it should. The effect engages and disengages correctly, the Speed control responds well and the phaser produces the characteristic analog Maestro sound.
