In the 1970s Gijsbert Hanekroot worked as a freelance photographer based in Amsterdam where he had a studio (Berenstraat 18). His main assignment was biweekly music paper Muziekkrant Oor (Ear), but he also worked for daily newspapers and magazines. He did concerts, interviews, press receptions and studio shoots. It were the golden years of rock music where the big names made their first and second albums, hard working to break through.

Recently Gijsbert's photos were shown in exhibitions among others in Paris, London, Moscow, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Brooklyn, Munich and Schiedam, Netherlands. He also published several books.
