Description from the seller
Litography number 75/99 with certificate of authenticity. Giancarlo Cazzaniga was born in Monza on September 20, 1930. With tenacity and encouragement from his father, he dedicates himself to painting studies. In 1950 in Milan, he attends the Cimabue Academy of Art and forges his first formative encounters. The friendship with journalist and art critic Aurelio Sioli introduces him to the famous Pirovini sisters’ dairy, on Via Fiori Chiari, and to the artistic environment he finds there. He begins to frequent the Brera atmosphere, participate in cultural debate, and build friendships with the key figures. Around the historic venues Jamaica, the Pirovini, and Titta’s Bar, the mood of those years centers on aspirations and ideals, though it is financially tight. He becomes a protagonist of that cultural tension, in life and in art, later defined as Existential Realism.
