Heinz Mack (born in Lollar in 1931) is a German artist, pioneer of kinetic art and light art. In 1957 he co-founded with Otto Piene the renowned ZERO movement. Known for his luminous reliefs and monumental sculptures, he represented Germany at the Venice Biennale in 1970.
nato in Germania, Heinz Mack has an academic background spanning art and philosophy, having studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts (1950–1953) and at the University of Cologne. [1, 2]
The ZERO Movement and Light Art
In 1957, together with Otto Piene, he founded the ZERO movement to mark a "zero point" and a new beginning in post-war art, breaking free from previous conventions. The group became internationally famous for its explorations of light, time, and movement. Among its most famous creations are the light reliefs (Light Reliefs), the cubes and the stelae, designed to actively interact with light and reflect it into space.
The work is accompanied by the invoice and certificates of authenticity and provenance.
