A gifted student of the renowned artist Hans Thoma, and associated with printmaking collectives such as the Künstlerbund Karlsruhe (KKK), he developed works of a highly distinctive graphic expressionism. In this "Pietà," expressionism, realism and surrealism are fused in an extraordinary way.
