Biography of Hoang Anh.
Born in 1984 in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, lives and works in Hanoi
Originating from Thanh Hoa Province, located 150 km south of Hanoi, Hoang Anh belongs to the pivotal generation of Vietnamese artists (the 8x generation) who blend cultural heritage with contemporary abstraction. A graduate of Vietnam Fine Arts University, he has established himself on Hanoi’s art scene with a bold approach to material and color.
Diploma in Artistic Talent program (cohort 13) at Thanh Hoa College of Culture and Arts
Graduated from the Painting Department (cohort 48) of Vietnam Fine Arts University

Style and Artistic Approach
Hoang Anh’s work is distinguished by an intense exploration of texture and movement. Though he explores varied themes such as landscapes, nature, and the female figure, it is in abstraction that he reveals his full expressive power:
• The energy of gesture: A devotee of oil and acrylic painting, he frequently uses a palette knife to apply color in bold horizontal strokes. This gesture creates a nearly musical rhythm on the canvas.
• Chromatic contrasts: His work plays on the opposition between often neutral backgrounds (urban greys, textured whites) and bursts of primary colors — ardent reds, solar yellows, and deep blues — that seem to emerge from the surface.
