Summer is an oil painting by Konstantin Prokhorov (born 1924) from Russia, created in 1970–1980 in the impressionist style, depicting nature, measuring 35 by 44 cm, hand signed, original edition, in good condition and sold with frame by Gallery.
Description from the seller
Konstantin Prokhorov was born in Karavaevo, Vladimir region, in 1924. He studied at the Palekh Art College, the Ivanovo Art College (1940-1942, 1945-1946) and the N. Samokish Simferopol Art College in 1946-’48, where he then worked as a teacher until 1954. At the same time he took distant education courses at the Repin Leningrad Institute of Art. He became a member of the Union of Artists in 1948. In 1955-58, he was the head of the Crimea Regional section of the Artists’ Union of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, since 1989 – the chairman of the military commission of the Moscow section of the Artists’ Union.
Prokhorov is active in Simferopol, Crimea and also in Orudeva, near Dmitrov, Moscow region. He paints both the landscapes of his native northern Russia as those of the Ukrainian Crimea.
Prokhorov took part in several important All-Union exhibitions (since 1955) and had personal exhibitions in 1956, 1957, 1972, 1980 and 1982 in Moscow, Kiev and Simferopol. In 2002 and 2005 his works were exhibited in the Lower and Upper Chambres of the Russian Parliament, and at the Federation Council. His paintings can be found in the museums of Sevastopol, Simferopol, Serpukhov, Dmitrov and Moscow and were acquired by the Russian and Ukrainian Ministries of Culture and private collectors in Russia and abroad.
Prohkorov is a Merited Artist of the Ukraine since 1960 and of the Russian Federation since 1997.
