Brass maritime stick barometer with Cardan mounting, about 92 cm high, 6 cm wide and 25 cm deep, origin United Kingdom, estimated 1970–1980, in excellent condition and in working order, with a built‑in thermometer and a glass tube with scale, inscribed K.D.J.S.C. 16 a 22 Dyoka London.
Description from the seller
A brass maritime stick barometer (ship barometer) with Cardan suspension.
A maritime measuring instrument that measures atmospheric pressure to forecast weather changes at sea.
With Cardan suspension, the hinged brass wall bracket ensures the barometer always hangs plumb, regardless of how violently the ship rocks on the waves.
Equipped with a built-in thermometer and a glass tube with a scale. Inscription K.D.J.S.C. 16 a 22 Dyoka London. This inscription points to a reproduction of a 20th-century maritime stick barometer made between 1970 and 2000, manufactured based on historical Portuguese and English ship barometers.
Scale: The left side shows the English weather indicators (Change, Rain, M.ch Rain, Stormy), and on the right is the scale (in inches) with the adjustable vernier (the brass slider to read the air pressure accurately).
Length / Height: about 92 to 95 cm
Diameter of the rod: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Depth (including Cardan wall bracket): about 15 to 20 cm
