Trio of 800 silver seal stamp handles from Italy dating to the early 20th century, each finely hand‑worked with decorative Liberty motifs and polished surfaces.
Description from the seller
Set of handles for a seal stamp in stamped 800 silver – Italy, early 20th century
Refined handles for a seal stamp made in solid 800-grade silver, as confirmed by the assay mark present. The three pieces, of exquisite artisanal craftsmanship, represent different interpretations of the period's decorative style.
The objects feature refined floral motifs and scrolls in the Art Nouveau (Liberty) style, finely chased in relief. The decorations differ from piece to piece, making the workmanship not identical but harmoniously coordinated, a typical feature of artisanal commissions or of creatively repurposed antique elements.
The sinuous lines and the chased work highlight the brilliance of the silver and attest to a high level of attention to detail.
The handles are internally filled with mastice (putty), as is traditional in antique productions, to confer solidity and a balanced weight. The bases are prepared to accommodate the matrix engraved in brass or hard stone, today absent, which in the past would have completed the personal or family seals.
Authentic and highly captivating objects, ideal as desk accents, for silver collectors or for enthusiasts of antique writing instruments.
