Totemic Trio

A vibrant and expressive composition featuring three stylized figures rendered with energetic lines and bold, contrasting colors. Created in a spontaneous, gestural approach, the painting combines acrylic and oil stick to build a richly textured surface where raw drawing and painterly layers coexist. The distorted expressions and graphic features evoke the immediacy of street art, Art Brut, and contemporary expressionism.
Rather than depicting specific individuals, the three faces become universal characters, conveying tension, humor, vulnerability, and human presence through an instinctive visual language.

Étienne Pixa is a French-German artist based in Berlin. Trained in graphic arts (drawing, advertising, and photography) and active in professional design since the early 2000s, he has developed a multidisciplinary practice informed by painting, photography, and graphic design. Working between abstraction and figuration, his paintings are characterized by expressive gestures, layered surfaces, and a strong sense of visual rhythm.
