Slasky presents Martirio Cosmico, a limited edition giclée on museum-grade 380 g cotton canvas (2/5), signed by hand, in excellent condition, measuring 60 cm high by 40 cm wide, Italia origin, sold by Agente, unframed with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
The figure of Saint Sebastian, emblem of sacrifice and resilience, is transposed into a sci-fi dimension. The astronaut, suspended in the pose made famous by Simon Vouet, does not wear the American flag but an alternative banner: three arrows instead of stars, a historic antifascist symbol.
The sky, stage of new global tensions, no longer welcomes angels but two looming planets and a mysterious UFO, ambiguous presences that question humanity about its own fate.
The work thus becomes a reinterpretation of the state of the world: a secular altar that unites sacred iconography, space imagery and political memory, inviting reflection on the fragility of man in the face of powers greater, earthly and cosmic.
« L'arte non è rappresentare cose nuove, ma rappresentarle con novità »
Slasky is a renowned Italian artist whose works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions internationally
The artist has the ability to fuse classical artworks with contemporary digital art techniques. With his neo-urban classic style, he combines tradition and modernity, bringing the protagonists of the original artworks into contemporary social and artistic environments.
Slasky (b. 1972, Italy) is a self-taught artist working from Artena, Rome. His practice emerged from outside
the institutional art system — a background in manual labour that informs both the materiality of his work and
the precision of its conceptual framework. Active since 2015, he has built an independent market presence
across Europe and Asia before undertaking a decisive shift toward institutional research practice.
Selected Exhibitions (2015 — 2026)
Institutional highlight: Long Live Rembrandt, Rijksmuseum Museum, Amsterdam, 2026. Work selected by the museum
jury from thousands of international submissions for exhibition within the museum's permanent collection
spaces. 15 July — 15 September 2019.
