Antonie Smeerdijk (18885-1965) was a pupil of the then-renowned Amsterdam animal painter and later of the Rijksakademie, among others of August Allebé. He painted preferredly still lifes and landscapes with prominently depicted figures. Initially his palette was dark, but after several travels to the South (France, Italy) his work became lighter in color. The offered painting shows a beautifully painted autumn forest.
Condition: in good condition.
Frame: framed in a bronze-colored wooden ornamental frame.
Edition: original.
Signature: bottom left.
