Description from the seller

Exceptional Art Deco Sterling Silver Cigarette Case with 18 kt Gold Cartouche – G. Packer & Co. Ltd., London, circa 1928–1929

An elegant and substantial English Art Deco cigarette case, crafted by the renowned London silversmith G. Packer & Co. Ltd., one of the most respected manufacturers of luxury smoking accessories during the early twentieth century.

Hallmarked for London Sterling Silver (.925) and dating to circa 1928–1929, this refined piece features the maker’s mark G. Packer & Co. Ltd., 76–78 Regent Street, London W.

The exterior is decorated with a sophisticated engine-turned linear pattern, characteristic of the Art Deco period. A solid 18 kt gold oval cartouche, engraved with the name “Sergio”, provides an elegant and prestigious contrast with the sterling silver body.

The interior retains its original structure with both elastic retaining straps, while the spring mechanism opens and closes correctly.

A particularly noteworthy feature is its impressive weight of 177.2 g, considerably heavier than many comparable examples produced by the same manufacturer, making it a superior-quality piece intended for an affluent clientele.

A rare and highly collectible example of British Art Deco silver craftsmanship, combining refined design, substantial weight, historical interest and the added luxury of a solid 18 kt gold monogram cartouche.
