Jan Mankes, Kruisspin, original heliogravure from 1923 in a frame, limited edition gravure in good condition, framed size 32 × 23 cm with the heliogravure itself measuring 13 × 10 cm.

Beautifully framed.
Frame size 32 h. x 23 w. cm.
Heliogravure size 13 h. x 10 w. cm.
The heliogravure was printed and issued in 1923 by his wife, A. Zernike-Mankes, and Roland Holst.

The engraving is in excellent condition and comes with a matching off-white passe-partout in the pictured frame.
A great Dutch Master of the Arts who sadly died at the age of 31. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly in small formats, about 100 drawings, and over 40 sheets of graphic work, mainly etchings and woodcuts.
Jan Mankes is remembered in art history as “Holland’s most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, an element that has contributed to the myth-making surrounding his artistry.
