Jan Mankes, Nestkuiken, limited edition gravure of a bird signed in the plate, from the Netherlands, framed with an off‑white passe-partout, total frame size 32 × 23 cm, heliogravure 13.5 × 10.5 cm, in excellent condition.

Nicely framed.
Frame size: 32 h. x 23 w. cm.
Size of heliogravure: 13.5 h. x 10.5 w. cm.
The heliogravure was printed and published in 1923 by his wife. A. Zernike-Mankes and Roland Holst.

The engraving is in excellent condition and is supplied with a matching off-white colored mat in the pictured frame.
A great Dutch master artist who unfortunately died at only 31. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly in small formats, around 100 drawings and more than 40 sheets of graphic art, primarily etchings and woodcuts.
Jan Mankes entered art history as “Holland's most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making surrounding his artistry.
